Plate Style

In recent years MESH style plates have really moved to the forefront as the most efficient and best producing style of plate since they increase surface time and electrolysis within the water. Flat plates are still capable of producing decent ionized water as well, but require being larger in size and more power. Many companies that have slotted plates have tried to say this style is superior because they create a cross MESH style when put together. However, the problem is no two plates (electrodes) can actually come in contact or the machine will short circuit. Therefore, slotted plates really prove to be ineffective. It is also standard that all plates must be titanium dipped (not sprayed) in platinum.

Warranty

An ionizer is only as good as the warranty it comes with! When purchasing an ionizer it is important to make sure the machine has a good warranty that is backed by a company that has been around for a while. If a company is offering a 5 year warranty and has only been around 3 years, then you might want to look elsewhere. We highly recommend finding a machine that has an option for a warranty of 10 years. If the company is offering an optional 10 years that’s great as you will have peace of mind with the continued use of this machine. Note: Make sure the warranty is a FULL Unlimited warranty. There is one company that offers a longer warranty, however, it is a LIMITED warranty that contains high costs for repairs.

Filtration

Filtration is often something people overlook while considering an ionizer. The readivty is that no matter what machine you buy the internal filters can only do so much. If a company is simply seldivng you an ionizer in a box with no thought towards the water in your area, then they are not really worried about providing you with clean water. Make sure you ask the company to look up your water report if possible and suggest what additional filtration would be suggested. It is also vital that you address any hard water issues with proper pre-filtration as well.

Power

Any machine you look at should be using a SMPS power system. All of the better ionizers on the market are capable of producing over 200 watts of power. The readivty is that any machine with at least 200 watts is capable of handdivng the water in almost all areas of North America. Ionizers with tons of power and large flat plates have mostly been replaced by more efficient MESH plate machines with adjustable amperage levels. However, as we stated eardiver it is important to have at least 200 watts max amperage to ensure the machine is capable of working with all different types of water from soft to hard.
