Kangen® – The Real TruthChances are if you have been researching ionizers you have come across a company called Enagic® (aka Kangen®). Enagic® is a multi-level-marketing (MLM) company that is known for using “hype” and “scare tactics” to justify their overpriced $3,980.00 ionizer. If you have had the chance to review the rest of our site you will have noticed that we have rated the Enagic® SD501 fairly high in comparison to several other machines. This is because in all fairness, aside from the price, the Enagic® SD501 is a pretty good machine. If it were sold for around $2,000 as it should be, then some of the other top machines in this price range would have some more competition. However, the reality is that eight (8) people are paid commission every time one of the Enagic® SD 501 machines is sold because of the MLM structure. There is simply no other reasonable justification for the inflated price tag other than this FACT! It is because of this that we feel compelled to tell you the truth behind the outrageous claims made by Enagic® (Kangen®) representatives. It is these claims that help build the “hype” and fuel the “scare tactics” that this company relies on to sell machines. Ask for Proof! You will hear all sorts of these “hype” claims and “scare tactics” from Kangen® representatives, but what most people fail to do is ask the representative for the actual proof behind their claims! If you do this and the Kangen® representative cannot provide you with actual proof, then you have to ask yourself; can you really believe anything this person is telling you? Below are several false claims made by Kangen® and the truths that lie behind them. Common Kangen® “Hype” and “Scare Tactics”Kangen® is the only ionizer that is an approved “medical device”. In fact, no ionizer is approved as a “medical device” in the United States as they are viewed as filtration devices and no company has taken the expense to have their machine reviewed by the FDA. However, other companies such as Jupiter and Life Ionizers are certified by the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) as “medical devices”. You should make sure you review all government and safety certifications for any ionizer you are considering purchasing. Please visit our certifications page for a complete review. Remember that there are a significant number of items that we in the U.S. use for health purposes that are not what the FDA would consider a “medical device”. Kangen® ionizers use “medical grade” platinum while other companies use less quality platinum. If a Kangen® rep attempts to make this claim it would be a perfect time to ask them to Show Proof! We have asked Kangen® representatives time and time again to show us some sort of manufacturing certificate that proves this claim and they have never been able to do so. In fact, we have never been able to find what they mean by ”medical grade” platinum. We believe they are referring to the percentage relating to the level of platinum being entirely “pure”, however, the term “medical grade” when referring to platinum simply does not coincide. The harsh reality is that Kangen® does not even offer the thickest platinum coating on their plates when compared to some of the newer top ionizers on the market. All plates should be dipped in platinum with as thick of a platinum coating as possible. Enagic® (Kangen®) is the only ionizer on the market that can produce true “Kangen Water”. Well of course this is the case! Enagic® has trademarked the term “Kangen Water”, so of course no other company can claim it! Please keep in mind that all “Kangen Water” means is ionized alkaline water that is of a 9.5 pH and most top ionizers produce this type of water. Kangen® uses flat plates because they provide more surface area for ionization. Other companies use MESH plates which can be more susceptible to scaling and have less surface area. Mesh plates can also have exposed edges of titanium that can leach in to the water. The best way to look at this is: Would it take you longer to get from Point A to Point B driving through the desert in a straight line; or would the same route take you longer having to go up and down mountains? The obvious answer is the mountain route! The same is true for the difference between flat and MESH plates. MESH plates provide a “mountain like” surface the water must travel over and therefore more surface time which increases the strength of the ionization. With flat plates the water simply just runs straight over which in turn results in less surface time and less strength in ionization. As long as your machine has an automatic cleaning function and any hard water issues are addressed with pre-filtration, then you will help to prevent scaling on either flat or MESH plates. Some of the more technologically advanced companies offer the consumer the choice of flat plates or MESH plates, although they will most likely persuade you to go with the MESH since they produce better results. Kangen® has the biggest plates in the industry! Other machines plates do not last as long because they are not as big.
This is one of the oldest tricks that Kangen® reps commonly use. The Enagic® SD 501 is a 6 year old design that up until the past couple years was the benchmark for ionizers. The reality is that there have been several key advancements in ionization since Kangen® last updated their machine. One of the main advancements is the use of the more efficient power supply known as SMPS (switched-mode power supply) in comparison to the old fashioned coil transformer that Kangen® uses. It is important to understand the difference in power supplies and why it is relevant to plate size. The main difference is an SMPS runs much cooler and has a more constant flow of electricity. Therefore, it produces more power because of its inherent efficiency, and it lasts longer (that is why some of the top companies provide lifetime warranties on their machines). Think of it this way; the newer flat screen HD televisions use an SMPS power supply while older heavy tube televisions use the coil transformer and tend to wear out faster. Why this is important in regards to plate size is because the SMPS is so much more advanced, it in turn is much more efficient when powering the ionization process. Essentially doing a lot more with a lot less. So what this means to you is that you do not need a big bulky machine with extra large plates since the machine is all around more efficient. Another way to look at it is a person with a big truck and huge engine will never outperform a 6 cylinder Mercedes in almost all areas. Kangen® is the only machine that can produce “Super Water” which is 2.6 and 11.5 pH.
The hidden truth here is that Kangen® is only able to do so by adding a chemical solution to the water. This chemical solution is said to be just salt water by the Kangen® reps but it makes hypochlorus acid which is deemed a “toxic substance” by the FDA and is even illegal to transport. It also clearly states “Do Not Drink” on the bottle! This completely defeats the entire purpose of drinking healthy ionized alkaline water! See below for more information regarding this. This image shows the different place on the Kangen® machine where you are to add substances to the water in order to obtain high pH and ORP levels. The bottles that contain this enhancement solution clearly warns “Do Not Drink”! Even though the substances are diluted once mixed with water we still feel very uneasy adding a chemical in to the water that has a “Do Not Drink” warning on the side of the bottle. Here is a look at the bottles of solution that you have to use in order to reach high ORP and pH levels with the Enagic® SD501. There is no other ionizer manufactured that requires you to add such a solution. We truly feel that this completely defeats the point of drinking ionized alkaline water!
Remember that these Kangen/Enagic® MLM reps will do and say most anything to sell you a machine “I had a friend who bought a less expensive ionizer with mesh plates and it made them sick.” It is common for Kangen® reps to make this claim and then attempt to put you in contact with some sort of doctor, usually a chiropractor, that also sells Kangen® machines in an attempt to justify the claim. They will try to tell you that flat plates are better than mesh plates. The truth is that the top company out there gives you the choice – choose the flat plates or the advanced MESH plates. And the big surprise we found was that these MESH plates had a thicker coating of Platinum and were coated using the “dipped” technology. This means that these plates are actually superior to the Kangen® plates. So there is no logical reason as to why someone would get a reaction from one machine and not a Kangen®. It is recommended that when first drinking alkaline water you should start at a lower pH and work your way up to the optimal level of about a 9.5 pH. If this basic rule is followed then you should avoid detoxification reactions no matter what machine you buy. Remember…start out at a lower pH, and as you detoxify increase your pH level! |
